LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial has called the 8th Premio LABjoven_Los Bragales, a call that takes over the spirit of one of the most consolidated production programmes of the art centre: LABjoven_experimenta. In its eighth edition, this programme has given new artists in our close environment the opportunity to use LABoral Centro de Arte and its resources as a platform for producing and disseminating ambitious artistic projects.
This yearly call is aimed at awarding a grant for producing an experimental art project (audiovisual or multimedia installations) designed specifically to be exhibited at the project Gallery of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.
The jury will value the artistic and cultural value of the projects submitted, their adequacy to the specific venue, the need to use the resources of Plataforma 0 Centro de Producción, their feasibility depending on deadlines and budget, their technical feasibility and the proposed public activities to be carried out during the residency and/or exhibition.
This award is funded with €9.500. The award shall cover all production costs. In addition, the artists will have access to all technical and human resources of LABoral (including assembly and disassembly).
The residency will have a maximum duration of 2 months between August and October 2016, during which the artist will be provided with accommodation and a working space.
The result of the residency will be shown in an exhibition at the Exhibition Gallery of LABoral between October 2016 and February 2017. The assembly of the exhibition until two weeks before the opening will be part of the residency period.
Requirements and deadlines
This call is addressed to artists born or living in Asturias or up to second-degree descendants of Asturian emigrants who are not older than 40 by December 31, 2016. In the case of collectives, the average age of the collective can be up to 40 by December 31, 2016 and, in addition, one of the members must be either born or living in Asturias or up to second-degree descendant of Asturian emigrants.

Colección Los Bragales is a modern and contemporary art collection that started in 1970 covering all supports of painting, photography, sculpture and video. It is made up by 300 works where 50% is painting, 32% is photography, 10% sculpture and 8% video. It includes 220 artists and has carried out 12 institutional exhibitions. It has 24 works loaned to the TEA of Tenerife and 60 to the MAS of Santander.
