Laboral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial organises Open House days during summer
In order to bring the activity of the centre closer to the city, citizens and tourists, LABoral will organise Open House days from next Friday, July 1 to September 15, offering free access to the exhibitions and guided tours.
Panacoustic Vortex
LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial will celebrate Open House days from July 1 to September 15 to foster the participation of citizens in all the activities programmed for summer. Guided tours both to the centre and its exhibitions will be free-of-charge.
The two exhibitions currently open at LABoral are:
- DEMO 01. Is the first series of productions of the European Network of Contemporary Audiovisual Creation (ENCAC). The member institutions of the network set up several calls to select the creators and producte and show their projects in the venues where thy take part. The projects shown here are the result from the first of these calls, launched in 2014 and produced during 2015. These proposals have in common their creative and innovative approach to the fields of sound, visuals, music, stage arts and digital culture, and they are interconnected to one another.
In DEMO 01 you can see and take part in Myriam Bleau's work, autopsy.glass (installation and documentary video with live manipulations on wine glasses); Evelina Domnitch and Dmitry Gelfand with Paul Prudence, with the piece Force Field (documentary video on three-dimensionality of sound and the depths of inner and outer space); Ganzfeld, with Guerrilla Spatialization Unit (installation and documentary video of the performance on the venue); Tomonaga Tokuyama, with f₁( ) (installation on several landscapes that merge auditive and visual perception); and Alan Warburton, with Primitives (audiovisual installation on software that generates crowds).
- Panacoustic Vortex, is the project resulting from the production residency of the who won the Production Grant DKV Seguros – Álvarez Margaride: Esther Mañas and Arash Moori. With Panacoustic Vortex lives a unique experience visualising and listening to the various forms of energy through copper. The ubiquity of this material in the field of telecommunications, its electric conductivity and its recyclability are some of the departing points of this project.
Moreover, during July and August, several workshops and camps for kids are organised:
- Robotix summer camp, from June 27 to August 26. Robotix Educación y LABoral continue their robotix for kids programme with the third edition of the summer camps. Through small scientific-technical projects, children develop their creativity, learn about technology and work together. In these camps, participants will have the opportunity to design, build and program their own robots from a series of challenges to be met daily .
-The table game factory camp, from July 4 to July 8. LABoral hosts this summer a camp on collaborative design and manufacture of a table game using digital fabrication technologies such as modelling, 3D printing, vectorial drawing and laser cutting. Participants will not only conceive the rules of the game, but also design the graphics of the game and the accessories. The main goal is fostering -through team work - critical thinking and creativity, as well as the knowledge on digital fabrication tools.
During five sessions, participants will learn drawing, 2D and 3D design, modelling and 3D printing and laser cutting in the fabLAB Asturias of LABoral. Each participant takes home their game together with the files to print it and assemble it at home.
- Mercadillo de Verano 2016, LABshop. On July 30 and 31 LABoral will host a new edition of LABoral’s Summer Flea Market on the weekend of July 25-26. This is an open space for creativity, coordinated by Marco Recuero, and aimed at showcasing the activity of designers living and working in Asturias
The Centre's opening hours in summer are Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Monday and Tuesday close, except public holidays) and the guided tours will be from Wednesday to Sunday, at half-past noon and at 4.30 p.m.
