The programme of activities will include the audiovisual show 'Everything is dirty', free guided tours, an Open House day at FABlab and the planting of 20 native oak trees
LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial will celebrate next Sunday, May 15, the International Museum Day that this year bears the motto “Museums and Cultural Landscapes”. To this end, LABoral has organised a programme of free activities addressed to different audiences and aimed at presenting the Centre as a space for research and production, at the service of creators, collectives and educators who work in the intersection between science, art, technology, the creative industries and the society.
On the one hand, two guided visits will be organised at half past noon and 4.30 p.m., they will include the screening of a film by the Former Students that links the current Centre with the history of the building that hosted originally the workshops of a vocational education centre. A meeting with the resident artists Esther Mañas and Arash Moori –In order to explain how residents give artists the opportunity to research, design, produce and present new art works, new tools, methods, formats and perspectives for audiovisual creation-; visit to the fabLAB, as a working resource for artists, educators and general public. And a visit to the Sound LAB, as a space to foster and provide technical and creative support to contemporary art practices related with sound along four lines of action: Production, research, exhibition and education.
Previous reservation must be made to take part in the visits by calling 985 18 55 77 (20 people per visit).
Moreover, the audiovisual show Everything is dirty will be performed at 1 p.m. in the Project Hall. It consists of a demo that revolves around the creative process, presented by three artists - Roberto Lobo, Ernesto Avelino and Cristina Busto- that will meet to discuss what is art and how it is made. To this end they share the techniques that they commonly use, hence the title, and this is shown as a creation that develops in front of the viewer, and presents all the aspects deriving from the creative activity.
The title refers to reality taken as a political fiasco and to the anecdote of finding some remains of their works and old instruments dumped in a trash container in an art centre. The music of Roberto Lobo and Ernesto Avelino starts simultaneously and combining with the images and object manipulations of Cristina Busto. The three of them together make up the drama and audiovisual piece that will be presented on Sunday.
The day will include as well the closing of the Blog Trip organised by the tourism agency of the City Hall of Gijon, at 4.30 p.m. The activity will consist on the planting of 20 native oak trees -donated by the Botanic Garden- in the forest “Creating forests” by the artist Carmen Cantón, outside LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.
In addition, entry to the fabLAB will be free-of-charge from noon to 7 p.m.
