The Instituto Asturiano de la Juventud and LABoral open a new edition of the LABjoven_Experimenta award
Aimed at Asturian artists under the age of 35, it comes with a prize of 10,250 euros for the production of a project conceived specifically for the Centro de Arte

The Regional Ministry of the Presidency through the Instituto Asturiano de la Juventud [Asturian Youth Institute] and LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, Gijón, are holding a new edition of the LABjoven_Experimenta award, which comes with a €10,250 prize. The period for submitting projects will be open from next Monday 22 October until 16 November 2012.
This award, which celebrates its sixth edition this year, is dedicated to experimental artistic projects (installations, multimedia installations, actions, interventions and any other creative process) designed specifically for its installation at LABoral Centro de Arte (the exterior, lobby, transit galleries, Sala de Columnas). Projects must be original and not have been previously exhibited.
Participation in the call is open to artists or collectives, born or resident in the Principality of Asturias, or up to the second generation of Asturian emigrants whose age does not exceed 35 years old on 31st December 2012. Artists and collectives who have won awards in previous editions are not eligible.
The jury, which will be formed by leading personalities in the field of art, will award the prize having considered the proposals’ suitability for the particular space, their artistic value and the technical quality of its production. The winning project will be unveiled in the second half of 2013.
In previous editions, the following artists and projects were awarded: Situation Room (2007) by Pablo de Soto, Crisálidas (2008) by Fernando Gutiérrez, En Barbecho [Left Fallow] (2009) by Alicia Jiménez, Dédalo España (2010) by Adrián Cuervo, and Generadores de Sombras (2011) [Shadow Generators] by Cristina Busto.
