LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijon, different spaces at Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura [Laboral City of Culture] and the Jardín Botánico Atlántico de Gijón [Gijón’s Atlantic Botanical Gardens] will host the seventh edition of the L.E.V. Festival this Friday 3 and Saturday 4 May. This project has aimed since 2007 to offer a panoramic, eclectic and qualitative vision of the ample spectrum of current genres in creation linked to electronic music and visual arts.

L.E.V. 2013, a co-production by the government of the Principality of Asturias, LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial and Datatrón 0×3F, pays tribute with its initials to Lev Thermen (Russian scientist, father of the present-day synthesiser). L.E.V. is a transient and physical space, particularly focused on the natural synergy between image and sound, on live action, experimentation, and on the continual mutations and hybridisations among genres and styles which highlights the importance of music and visual arts as artistic manifestations in constant evolution and transformation.

This year’s spotlight will again be on the importance of music and visual arts as artistic manifestations in constant evolution and transformation. The programme includes such stimulating and crucial projects in contemporary electronic music as Clark, Oneohtrix Point Never, Tim Hecker, Andy Stott, Raime, Emptyset + Joanie Lemercier, Pole o Kid606, in addition to ten other artists among which we find  young talent and acclaimed artists, audiovisual projects and exciting live sound concerts, such as those to be presented by Jon Hopkins + Dan Tombs, John Roberts, Evian Christ, dot tape dot, Face+Heel, Santiago Latorre, Pye Corner Audio, Futuregold, Thr3hold and Cristina Busto.
