Tomorrow, Friday 21st, LABoral will hold an improvisation session with sound, movement, words and sketches, led by the theatre company Rabos de Lagartija. ¡IMPROperio!, as the activity is called, is part of the Códigos abiertos [Open Codes] project - a work group carrying out research into new ways of producing, sharing and spreading culture at a time when its value is questioned.
¡IMPROperio! is presented as an open space for all kinds of artists and audiences, and during two hours, between 6 and 8 pm, the participants will explore the richness and diversity of artistic improvisation. Musicians, dancers, actors, poets and visual artists will compose an evening of spontaneous creation at LABoral, where a continuous process will be the centre of the action. The artists will work together in groups, duets or solo, blurring the boundaries of their disciplines and generating creative material as a response to the space. Forms, ideas and content emerge from the present moment; hearing, surprise and experimenting are sources of the creative act. Let yourself be surprised by an artistic proposal which hasn’t been rehearsed.
Artists who have confirmed their participation with instruments include Javier Otero, Pedro Menchaca, Rebeca Lavandera, Guzmán Argüello, Alfonso Jiménez and Angélique López. In movement and voice improvisation: Laura Cueto, Ana Fernández, Daniel Franco, Izar Gayo, Marta Medina, Pablo Pérez, Angelique López, María Sánchez, Sofía Fernández, Eduardo Suárez, Rebeca Martín Tassis, Regina Digiorgis, Nazaret Blanco and Alejandro Hidalgo. And LAN and Carlos Sierra will be taking part in text improvisation.
Rabos de Lagartija, award for the Best Theatrical Work in the 8th Edition of Festival Toledo Escena Abierta TEA [Toledo’s Open Stage theatre festival], is a theatre company which combines contemporary languages arising from physical theatre, Japanese Butoh, installation, music and the arts of movement and dance. Its work belongs to the world of the abstract, symbolic and absurd, composing fleeting moments of dreamlike theatre.
