LABoral and Gijón International Film Festival launch a call for the new edition of filMO
Participants can shoot their films from 16th to 24th of this month as part of the film festival activities and shall publish them on the Vimeo channel

LABoral and Gijón International Film Festival, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, have launched the call for filMO which is a pocket-sized film festival made with mobile devices such as telephones and low resolution cameras, conceived and promoted by the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón since its first edition. The festival is aimed at fostering creativity and critical thinking among teenagers and young creators in a society which is constructed and understood from the core perspective of the digital image.
Continuing with the line of work undertaken in previous editions, the setting for filMO will be Gijón Film Festival. From 16 to 24 November -the dates for its 50th edition- participants will be able to film their works making use of everything that surrounds them as the raw material for their movies.
For its fourth edition, filMO includes the following sections:
filMO Amateur Film: section for pieces made with non-HD cameras, telephones and/or micro cameras.
Invited Guests: section reserved for those invited to the festival, directors, critics and generally film professionals who decide to participate in the competition at the proposal of LABoral and Gijon International Film Festival.
Awards: the festival’s filMO Amateur Film section is awarded with two prizes. Firstly, the jury prize of 500 euros, and secondly, the public award totalling 300 euros. The jury which is formed by several experts involved in the world of moving image, as either critics or professionals, will also be joined by members from the LABoral and Gijón International Film Festival team. The public award and the jury prize can overlap.
For taking part in the competition filMO has its own Vimeo channel (https://vimeo.com/user7631232) where users will post their works after registering in the group and, also, where the public will be able to vote once registered. The final works should be handed in before 12 at night on Monday 3 December. The award will be announced on Friday 21 December.
