On Thursday 6 June, LABoral will hold D Day for 3D Printing, an event to which the public are invited to turn their own tridimensional designs into reality. This can be done by simply registering at fablab@laboralcentrodearte.org and coming along to the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón from 10 am till 7.30pm.

fabLAB Asturias will have its doors open continuously during this time and the 3D printer will work constantly, producing objects for LABoral’s projects and inviting any interested people to materialise their own designs.

Online streaming on the LABoral website, www.laboralcentrodearte.org, will broadcast video and audio content of the process so that anyone can follow at any time the object printing process on the internet.

The only requirement is prior registration at fablab@laboralcentrodearte.org so that the technicians at the art centre’s digital fabrication laboratory will be able to prepare the designs, check the models and calculate the printing times and dimensions. To ensure that as many people as possible can take part, the size limits on the pieces to be printed will be agreed on.

fabLAB ASTURIAS is a space for research, training and production with advanced digital fabrication machinery to create real and virtual prototypes. Equipped with digital fabrication machines, it offers consultancy, individual and collective production tools, courses and workshops. LABoral’s fabLAB serves as a resource centre at the service of research, development and innovation within the Centre of Art and Industrial Creation. It is available to the local artistic and creative community, international artists and researchers, architects and designers, business people and entrepreneurs, educational professionals and the school and university population.
