LABoral brings back the LABjoven Award with the support of Colección Los Bragales
Addressed to Asturian artists under 40, it is awarded with 9.500 €
LABoral brings back Premio LABjoven with the support of Colección Los Bragales, owned by the Cantabrian entrepreneur Jaime Sordo. The LABjoven_Los Bragales call takes over the philosophy of one of the most consolidated production programmes of the Art Centre: LABjoven_Experimenta. During six editions this programme has given emerging Asturian artists the opportunity to take advantage of LABoral and its resources as a platform for execution and dissemination of ambitious artistic projects.
LABjoven_Los Bragales takes over this willingness to support and boost the artistic scene by calling an annual award, funded with 9.500 Euros that are to be devoted to producing an experimental artistic project (audiovisual or multimedia installations) designed specifically for its exhibition at the Project Gallery of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.
The call is open to artists born or residing in Asturias, or descendants up to the second degree of Asturian emigrants, who are under 40 by December 31, 2015. In the case of collectives, the average age of the group must be under 40 by December 31, 2015 and, in addition, one of the members must be born or residing in Asturias, or descendant up to the second degree of Asturian emigrants. The deadline for submitting the documentation via regular mail is April 30, 2015.
The selection of the winning projects will be carried out by a jury made up by a representative of LABoral Centro de Arte, Jaime Sordo, Alicia Ventura and an external jury made up by Pilar González Lafita and Benjamin Weil. This decision will be final.
The work will be produced during a residency at LABoral with a duration not exceeding two months between July and September 2015, during which the artist will be provided with accommodation and a work space. The residency will result in an exhibition at Galería de Exposiciones del Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial between September 16, 2015 and January 17, 2016.
Colección Los Bragales is a private contemporary art collection aimed at showing, educating and providing artistic training by means of exhibitions and educational programmes. An initiative of the Cantabrian entrepreneur Jaime Sordo, Chairman of Asociación de Coleccionistas Privados de Arte Contemporáneo 9915, this collection supports artists –mainly those working in new creation- through activities of art patronage, thus helping to discover new values and artistic expressions of the current art.
