LABoral and the El Comercio newspaper are launching a joint call for artists who are part of the Asturian Artists’ Archive to develop an artistic project which will be published on the front page of El Comercio.  The objective of this call is to produce a series of four works, produced by Asturian creators, which will be published as a graphic contribution on the first page of all the editions of El Comercio between August and October 2013. The newspaper will also include additional information on the authors and selected works on its inside pages.

The projects may be submitted from tomorrow, Saturday 15 June, until 10 am on Monday 15 July. A committee of experts will select the four winners on the basis of their artistic and cultural value and the impact of the design with their authors receiving gross fees of 300 euros.

This call for proposals is framed within the collaboration agreement between LABoral and El Comercio according to which the newspaper is the media partner of the art centre’s activities.  It is designed to invigorate the Asturian artistic scene, raising the profile of emerging art being produced in Asturias. The Asturian Artists’ Archive at LABoral serves as a basis for the call. This is a section from LABoral’s Mediateca_Archivo [Mediatheque archive] which brings together material and documentation of more than a hundred artists, active from 1950 until today. This database, in the process of consolidation, aims to become a key tool in drawing the map of Asturian culture, offering new forms of visibility for its member artists.

FORMAT AND REQUIREMENTS

The rules established by the call and the application form are hosted on the LABoral webpage http://www.laboralcentrodearte.org/es/r/convocatorias/convocatoria_laboral_elcomercio.
