DKV Seguros and LABoral have announced the third Production Grant DKV Seguros – Álvarez Margaride, an annual call aimed at granting a production residency to an artist that is Spanish or a legal resident in Spain, born in or after 1975, for developing a project. The resulting work will be showcased at Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, between June and August 2015 (exact dates to be specified) and subsequently through the web sites of LABoral and DKV Seguros.

Both entities take a further step in their commitment that started two years ago with the aim of fostering innovation and creativity through art.

This grant pays homage to the entrepreneur José Luis Álvarez Margaride, born in Gijon and chairman of the Spanish branch of DKV Seguros until his death in 2010, for his business commitment with Asturias and his interest in art, culture and scientific research.

DEADLINES AND ENDOWMENT

In this third edition, the deadline for submitting projects will be open until January 30, 2015. The artistic residency will have a maximum duration of two months (between April and June 2015). During this time the artist will be provided with accommodation and a working space. The maximum endowment per project is €10.000 gross (€2.000 as fees and a production budget of €8.000), in addition to free access to all the technical and human resouces of LABoral. DKV will have a right to purchase the resulting work, if it so decided by its committee, for an amount not exceeding €8.000.

Any artist or collective that works with new technologies, in a broader sense, can apply for the Production Grant DKV Seguros – Álvarez Margaride.

A jury, made up by Josep Santacreu (or the person he delegates) and Alicia Ventura as members appointed by DKV Seguros, other two members appointed by LABoral and a external expert, will select the winning project according with the following criteria: The artistic and cultural value of the projects submitted, their suitability for the specific venue, the feasability depending on deadlines and budget, the technical feasability of the project and its impact.

Karlos Gil, with his work The Moon Museum, and David Ferrando Giraut, with Prótesis discursiva (Una conversación alquímica) have been the winners of this call in the two previous editions.

LABoral will continue to support the research and production of new works in its programme for 2015. This will be done by granting artist residencies and organizing work groups. The Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial will continue to invite creators and developers to use the spaces and technical ressources available in its Production Centre, Plataforma 0, in many occasions through open calls, like in this case. Thus, the centre consolidates its support to the production of projects in the intersection between art, science and the new technologies.
