New edition of the Summer Camp for children “Jugamos, Creamos”
The children taking part in the two fortnightly sessions until the end of the month will create an experimental film under the guidance of the artist Cristina Busto
Starting this Monday 4th July and lasting throughout the whole of July in fortnightly periods, the Art Centre will hold the fourth edition of its Urban Summer Camp “Jugamos, Creamos” [Let´s Play and Create], which on this occasion will take place under the slogan “Let´s make a film”. This initiative is jointly organised by LABoral Centro de Arte and Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura [City of Culture] in Gijón and has the collaboration of El Bibio infant school and Radio Television of the Principality of Asturias.
During their stay at LABoral, the participating children will create an experimental animated film under the guidance of the Asturian artist Cristina Busto. To achieve this, the most traditional animation techniques, shadow play and stop-motion combined with video installation and acting will be carried out using the ideas of the participants themselves.
All of these creative exercises will be filmed and edited so as to obtain a collective creation: a film that we have all made together. At the same time, the participants will put together another audiovisual piece on the making of their film under the guidance of Laude Martínez.
At the end of the summer camp the participants set themselves up as designers, curators and organisers of an exhibition that will have as its content the projection of the animated film as well as all of the works produced in the workshops.
In addition, on 29th July, an ElectroKinder will be organized for all the participants, their families and teachers. ElectroKinder is a pioneering project designed by Asturian artists Las CasiCasiotone taking place at LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón. The initiative has educational and raising awareness objectives, aiming to improve family and alimentary habits in a decontextualised way, recreationally and creatively through audiovisual art - the driving force for the work-life balance of family leisure time.
