The showing of a video made by children closes the Urban Summer Camp “We Play, We Create”
More than 70 children have participated in the activities and worked together on the production of a music video with the help of the eCLIPSe exhibition curator, Carlos Navarro
Tomorrow, Friday 27 July starting at 12 noon, the video made by children participating in the urban summer camp: Jugamos, Creamos 5. Hacemos un vídeo musical [We Play, We Create 5: Let´s Make a Music Video] will be presented. Over the four weeks of July, the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón has held the fifth edition of its children’s camp, organised in collaboration with Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura [Laboral City of Culture] and the El Bibio infant school, which on this occasion was linked to the eCLIPSe exhibition on show at the art centre.
eCLIPSe traces the creativity of music videos with a selection of the 50 videos which throughout history may be considered crucial for a full appreciation of a discipline that has been established as a form of artistic expression in itself.
Under the guidance of its curator, Carlos Navarro, the 70 participants in the summer camp aged between the 3 and 9 years old have been introduced to the techniques and processes needed to make a music video. From the creation of the script, music and sets made from recycled materials– to the assignment of roles –director, main actors, supporting actors- the children have produced the work that has culminated in the filming and editing of a story about dreams, nightmares and terrors which will now be presented.
The whole process has been documented in an exhibition designed, curated and put together by the children themselves and will be on display at La Nave until 3 August.
