70 children participate in the kid’s summer camp at LABoral with the theme Let’s make a music video
Until 27 July the participants will make a video clip with the help of the curator of the eCLIPSe exhibition which is on show at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial
Starting this Monday and continuing over the next four weeks in July, the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón will hold the fifth edition of its children’s urban summer camp Jugamos, Creamos [We Play, We Create], which on this occasion takes place under the slogan Let´s Make a Music Video. This activity is in collaboration with Laboral Ciudad de la Cultural.
The urban summer camp at LABoral is aimed at children aged between 3 and 10 years-old who will be invited to take part in the different activities framed within the eCLIPse exhibition. Over the two fortnightly sessions, into which it has been divided, the participants will make two music videos under the guidance of Carlos Navarro, one of the curators of the exhibition which will be on show in the exhibition rooms at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, Gijón, from tomorrow (3rd July). eCLIPSe traces the creativity of music videos with a selection of the 50 videos which throughout history may be considered crucial for a full appreciation of a discipline that has been established as both a form of artistic expression in itself and as an intersection between the visual arts and cultural industries.
The video, regarded as an artistic discipline, offers a host of creative possibilities for the children to explore in the areas of sound, image in movement, narrative, set design and choreography. They will be the actors, producers and make-up artists, as well as design the set and the wardrobe, and create the choreography.
The final result of the summer camp will be shared with family members in a celebration which will take place on Friday 27 July where the completed videos will be premiered.
Every fortnight an outing will be organised: to the Jardín Botánico [Botanical Gardens] and the Museo del Pueblo de Asturias [Museum of the People of Asturias].
The camp has a canteen service in a space set aside for the exclusive use of the participants. The menu will be carefully planned and provided to the parents before the start of the summer camp.
