The Asturian Bueno and Political Personal Disaster from Galicia will feature in the closing concert of the LABvisiónica Festival which has been hosted at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón since last December. Aimed at people interested in creative performances arising from new media, this festival returned to Gijón after several years of being held in Oviedo. In collaboration with LABoral, its curator Roberto Lorenzo has organised a diverse programme in which the common denominator has been the presentation of actions and proposals based on the search for new audiovisual languages in order to create alternative experiences in cinema and video-art.

Bueno (Asturias). Bueno is Javi Vallina and Javi Vallina is Bueno. This isn’t a needless repetition as they aren’t the same. Bueno as a person, Bueno as a musician and Bueno as a singer – a hidden talent that we have only recently discovered. This Asturian musician kept it very much to himself that in spite of his youth in the last fifteen years he has been involved in several projects: Los Mancos, Lansbury, Koniec, Sister Morprhine, Hotel Vaqueros, etc.

Now he has decided to throw himself into the void without a safety net with nine minuscule songs, a hurricane and a million polka dots under a solo project with the name of Bueno, bringing him up to his eleventh record if we add up his various projects. Bueno has done everything. He has composed and arranged the themes. He has played all the instruments. He has done the rough cut, produced it and released it himself with Nada Bueno, his own label.

Political Personal Disaster (Galicia) is a creative project that combines low fidelity technological production with sound and visuals, from a recreational and experimental perspective. Its creator, Miguel Harguindey, sees it as a new way to meet the challenge of musical and visual creation, using for this end a tool designed and built by himself: an instrument with the appearance of an inoffensive ludo board that hides an incredible amount of resources for audiovisual live interpretation. Harguindey presented the audiovisual project called Political Personal Disaster in Paris causing surprise with its originality. And it is just that this 41-year-old designer has manufactured an instrument that has the appearance of your every day ludo board yet it conceals a vast array of resources for live audiovisual interpretation. The game board is transformed into an orchestra where the baton is the beaker that shakes the dice and the music store is decided at random, generating random compositions that obey the results of the dice, producing rhythms and atmospheres that can unexpectedly and without warning swing to prearranged compositions out of absolute chaos and then to set rhythmic patterns. www.politicalpersonaldisaster.tk.

EXHIBITION
In addition, from 25th February until next 23rd May and framed within the Festival, the exhibition El alquimista impasible y su cine de fantasía. Segundo de Chomón [The Impassive Alchemist and His Fantasy Cinema. Segundo de Chomón], curated by Roberto Lorenzo (Audiovisionarte), is being shown in the Sala de Columnas at LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial. The artwork pays tribute to experimental and independent cinema while not treating it at the same time as an alternative to mainstream cinema. The concept consists in defining cinema from practices that tend to go against the norm, displaying a world of cinema that manifests itself in forms closer to painting, music or essays. Segundo de Chomón (Teruel, 1871-Paris, 1929) was one of Spain’s pioneering directors in silent movies.
