This Saturday 17th September the choreographer and dancer Aniara Rodado will present the result of her artistic residency at LABoral, where over the space of a week she has been working on her interactive audiovisual piece Fotograma. The event is open to the public and will take place at Plataforma Cero from 7 pm onwards.

Before this, Rodado will interact on Thursday evening with a group of students from the High School of Dramatic Art in Gijón, (ESAD), who will have the opportunity to see her work at first hand, as well as the spectacular piece installed at LABoral.

Fotograma is an audiovisual and interactive choreography piece inspired by photographs of women soldiers taken during the 30s by Jenny Matthews. There is a profound duality between the beauty of the photographic compositions and the extremely violent situations that they illustrate. The work explores, along these lines, the representation of the body in war contexts, the intimate and the exterior, the private body and the body politic. A large audiovisual device functions as the stage at Plataforma Cero, with a choreography where the dance weaves an intense physical relation with the sound and images. Rodado and her collaborators perform an impossible dance without the presence of the eye of the computer, a static and empty scenic landscape without the movement of the dancer, a piece of music that is no longer heard if the dance stops.

The work of Aniara Rodado is rooted in the body and revolves around questions such as representation and audiovisual settings. Her documentary work is focused on ethnographical problems. Rodado is co-ordinating the Estàrter project, which fosters exchanges between Colombian and European creators working in the fields of art, science, technology and communities. She is also part of the programming and management team of labSurlab. Currently, she is working on a new choregraphy piece called Crímenes sin víctimas [Crimes Without Victims] (co-production manège.mons / CECN) and on a narco-telenovela [or narco soap opera] in tele-presence, with the support of Plataforma Cero at LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.
