Jordi Vall-lamora presents at LABoral the results from his artist residency at the Art Centre this Wednesday

The artist and actor Jordi Vall-lamora

This Wednesday 21st December the artist and actor Jordi Vall-lamora will present Life Project, a performance experiment which he has been working on during the artistic residency carried out over the course of the last month at LABoral Art Centre. The presentation, open to the public, will take place at 7.30 pm at La Nave with free entrance.

Through his action Jordi Vall-lamora seeks to provoke reflection on the crisis of materialism and how people can confront the present situation by using their internal resources. In achieving this he has brought together musicians, dancers, blind and sick people in a performance action which is aimed at bringing art and life closer together. Life Project includes the composition of live cello music combined with organic electronic sounds, the elaboration of a contemporary choreographic performance by four dancers -two contemporary dance nd the other two Butoh dance-. All of them have worked with texts and performances about a person with a terminal illness (ALS) and about a performance artist who was born blind.

In this way, according to the artist and actor, an artistic concept is joined with a life concept. “Human beings only react profoundly to things when faced with an extreme situation. For this reason we have chosen a blind person from birth who will help us understand the reality of the true perceptions of our interior, and a man who suffers from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and who is ready to speak openly about his situation”. The emotions arising as a result of this situation are reflected in the dance and music which make up the performance.

Trained as an actor in the United Kingdom, Spain and Asia, Jordi Vall-lamora has combined his life between the West and Asia with his art studies, meditation and philosophy in Asia (with residencies in India, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam and Tibet). He has worked as a performer and actor in different film, television and theatre projects and created numerous artistic installations in which the double influence of the West and the East are always present.
