ELEKTRA, which this year coincides in time with BIAN -International Biennial on Digital Art, the tenth edition of MIAN (Marché International de l’art Numerique) and MUTEK, is currently one the most important meeting points for artists and digital art centres in the world.

LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación industrial takes part in the 17th Edition of the International Digital Art Festival ELEKTRA, that is taking place in Montreal (Canada) from today Wednesday June 1 until Sunday June 5.

Lucía García, executive director of LABoral, takes part in the first day of the Festival with a presentation of the Art Centre focusing on interdisciplinary work and cultural exchange, as well as on the engagement of new audiences as its main goals and the participation in international networks, such as ENCAC (European Network of Contemporary Audiovisual Creation, lead by LABoral). According to Lucía García, LABoral has been invited based on its personality and specificity that has allowed the Art Centre to position itself in leading forums like ELEKTRA/BIAN/MUTEK, where international collaboration networks like ENCAC raise the interest of creators, institutions and digital art professionals from all around the world”.

ELEKTRA is one of the most prestigious digital art festival in the world, and it is also joined by other institutions such as Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City (USA), Nemo Festival, Paris (France); Campus Exhibition Ars Electrónica, Linz (Austria); Arts@Cern, Geneva (Switzerland); LACMA, Los Angeles (USA) and Sonica, de Glasglow (Scotland), among many others.

ELEKTRA hosts the presentation of artists and works that combine art and new technologies. This festival showcases local, national and international creation for the artistic community at global level.

Moreover, Lucía García, representing LABoral Centro de Arte, will also take part in two international meetings in Montreal: BIAN/MIAN and MUTEK.  BIAN, the International Biennial of Digital Art, celebrates its third edition during a month starting June 3. This year's theme is “AUTOMATA: Art made by machines for machines” and it is aimed at exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on art and culture, with a programme based on robotic reality, immersion, virtual environments, augmented reality, sculpture and digital video.

MUTEK celebrates its 17th edition. MUTEK is a non-profit organisation based in Mexico and Montreal that focuses on the dissemination and development of digital creativity in sound, music and audiovisual art. It is aimed at becoming a platform for the most original and visionary artists currently working in these fields with the purpose of discovering new audiences.

In MUTEK, Lucía García will be accompanied by Cristina de Silva and Nacho de la Vega, organisers of the L.E.V. Festival, who will take part the panel Mutek Match, tomorrow June 2.

The MUTEK festival has taken place in Montreal since 2000 and has positioned itself as an international meeting point for original and avant-garde programming. Its programme is aimed a creating a sound-based venue to support innovation in the new electronic music and in digital art.
