Raw Edges Studio

This official collaboration between Yael Mer & Shay Alkalay started after many years of sharing together life, thoughts, ideas and actually everything in-between. Mer’s main interest focuses on turning two dimensional sheet materials into curvaceous functional forms whereas Alkalay is fascinated by how things move, function and react. Together they working as ‘Raw-Edges’ and share a common goal to search for objects that have never been seen before! Yael Mer studied design at Kunste Academy Sttutgart in Germany and then at Bezalel Art and Design Academy in Israel, before moving to London to study at the Royal College of Art where he graduated in 2007. Shay Alkalay studied design at the Politecnico di Milano and then at Bezalel Art and Design Academy before moving to London to study at the Royal College of Art where he graduated in 2007. Their clients include Arco, Established & Sons, Bauhaus Ceramic, Kobol International, London Design Museum and Johnson Trading Gallery.
