Mika Rottenberg

Buenos Aires, Argentina (1976)

In 1998, she graduated from Hamidrasha, Bait Berl College of Arts, Israel. Rottenberg earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, New York in 2000. In 2004, she completed a Master of Fine Arts at Columbia University, New York. Currently, she lives and works in New York. Her most recent solo exhibitions include: 2011 Squeeze, Cheese, and Tropical Breeze: Video Works 2003-2010, M - Museum Leuven, Belgium; Take Ninagawa, Tokyo, Japan; Dough, Cheese, Squeeze and Tropical Breeze, de Appel Arts Centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 2010: New Work: Mika Rottenberg, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA; Squeeze, Mary Boone Gallery in collaboration with Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery, New York. 2009: Performance Stills, Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery, New York; La Maison Rouge, Paris, France, Galerie Laurent Godin, Paris, France.

Collections of her work can be found in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, New York and Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo, Norway. Her many distinctions and awards include Planete Doc Film Festival Selection, Warsaw; The Flaherty International Film Seminar Fellow, New Vision Programme Selection, CPH: DOX Film Festival, Copenhagen; 5x5 Castello 09 Prize Finalist, Espai d'art contemporani de Castelló, Spain; The Cartier Award, in conjunction with the Frieze Art Fair; The Rema Hort Mann Foundation; The Dean Fellowship, Columbia University; Projects 2001 award, Islip Museum.
