Miguel Ángel Ríos
Catamarca, Argentina, 1943
He studied at Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Solo exhibitions (selection): Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico City (2011); For you - Para usted, Daros Latinamerica, Zurich (2009); Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (2009); Aquí, Evo Gallery, Santa Fe (2008), Blaffer Gallery at the University of Houston (2007); Miguel Ángel Rios: Love, Miami Art Museum (2006); Concentration 49, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas (2006); A Morir – ‘til death, Artists Space, New York (2003). He has also taken part in several group exhibitions, including: Portraits and Places, The Bronx Museum of Art, New York (2004); and Special Projects: Summer 2001, PS1 Contemporary Art Center, New York (2001). His work was presented at the 5th Seoul International Media Art Biennale (2008); Sydney Biennale (2002); Gwangju Biennale, Korea (2000); and the Havana Biennial (1997 and 2000). In 1988 he received a grant from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Ríos has work in the following collections: Museum of Modern Art, New York; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC; Philadelphia Museum of Art Miami Art Museum; Patricia Cisneros Collection, Miami; and Diane Halle Collection, Phoenix.
