Coming from Milwaukee and guaranteed by Brainfeeder, in the past year Nothing else (Brainfeeder, 2010) was released, being one of the most shocking albums in the season. An overwhelming debut album with whom Marcos Ortega emerged as one of the banners of the beatmakers scene based in Los Angeles (Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing, Daedelus, Savimam…)
In the beginning of his career, he was trained in the competitive turntablism circle. Lorn is characterized by a very different sound from what was usual so far at the electronic hip hop scene. Lorn is influenced by dubstep, IDM and hip hop, but we can define it in general as slow motion beats, overwhelming and dreadful fat sound. Lorn`s sound is dark, influenced by sci-fi where sinister and ghostly atmospheres are constant, making the whole a landslide mass of cutting edge electronic sound.
