Jesús Palomino

Born in Spain in 1969. Lives and works in Seville. Recent exhibitions include: BIACS3 Seville; Sala Iniciarte, Seville; Galería Helga de Alvear, Madrid; Clark Gallery, Montreal.

For his project Stop T.V. – Hollyworld, Jesús Palomino built a large model based on the urban landscape of the contemporary city, with buildings, vehicles, lights and posters. The piece Six Cars on display here is related to that project. In the introduction he wrote for Stop T.V., the artist explained, “The creation of a model usually involves a reduction in the scale of an object for a better understanding of it. I believe that what I am presenting here could be called ‘A model of our culture’ (although I have doubts about its ability to help us to better understand the infinitely complex reality of our society). Long lines of cars, caricatures of the citizens driving them, circulate leaving the CITY.”
