IaaC

Instituto de Arquitectura Avanzada de Cataluña (Spain)

Directed by Vicente Guallart, IaaC is a leading international latest-generation research centre, which works in collaboration with a series of cities and regions, industrial groups and research centres, including MIT-Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Brighton and the University of Chicago, on the development of various research programmes bringing together experts in different disciplines such as engineering, sociology, anthropology, architecture and other fields of research. Every year IaaC hosts students and investigators from all over the world, and is involved in a range of research projects, as well as workshops and special summer courses, open to Spanish and international companies. This year IaaC has been selected, from among a long list of universities, to take part in Solar Decathlon Europe 2010. The goal of this competition is to design and fabricate a self-constructed 1:1 house, using solar energy as its main source.
