Dunne & Raby
Established in 1994, Dunne and Raby use design as a medium to stimulate discussion and debate amongst designers, industry and the public about the social, cultural and ethical implications of existing and emerging technologies. Projects include: Consuming Monsters Big, Perfect and Infectious, leading on to BioLand (a critical design approach applied to the field of biotechnology). Prescription Products (a parallel project), Designs for Fragile Personalities in Anxious Times (continues their obsession with the psychological impact of an atomised society). Their projects are in permanent collections at MOMA, New York, FRAC, Paris and the V&A, London. They have also worked with Sony UK, National Panasonic, France Telecom. They have published two books: Design Noir: The Secret Life of Electronic Objects (Princeton Architectural Press) and Hertzian Tales (The MIT Press). Anthony Dunne is professor of the Design Interactions department at The Royal College of Art in London.
