Carl Clerkin

Carl Clerkin is a furniture and product designer. His work goes beyond pure functionality and reflects a concern with communicating the inherent emotional values and associations within objects through objects. This approach has resulted in a broad spectrum of work that is both seemingly understated, in terms of its familiarity, and yet out of the ordinary in terms its intellectual content. His work is geared towards strengthening the attachment between people, places and objects using a variety of references and thought provoking methods. Whilst he originally trained as furniture and product designers, his work often crosses and questions the boundaries of a number of disciplines. His clients include: Design Council, The Department for Education, Derby Museum and Art Gallery, West London Academy, Habitat, and Peugeot.
