Amaranta Velarde

She was born in Asturias. She lives and works in Barcelona

Amaranta Velarde began studying dance in Oviedo, continues in Madrid and finally graduated herself in CODARTS University for the Arts of Rotterdam (2004), with the support of the Cajastur scolarship 2002 as a granted dancer with the contemporary dance company Danceworks (2003 - 2004).

Since then, she works intensively in the Netherlands as a performer, collaborator and assistant of the choreographer Bruno Listopad in numerous stage productions, research and installations in museums and galleries. The scenic work is presented in festivals like Cadance, Spring Festival, Nederlands DansDagen and Something Raw, and several of the pieces are nominated for national awards in the Netherlands. She also works with other choreographers as Giulia Mureddu, Anna Kontzesky, Jochem Stechman and Liat Waysbort, among others, and participates in different events of improvisation. In 2009 she collaborated with the singer Maria Luisa Capurso and premiered the piece Um Boh Biarteca at the Festival Biarteca of Italy. In 2010 she creates his first solo, Eclipse, presented in Amsterdam and Groningen, and is a fellow member as danceWEB at the Impulstanz International Festival of Vienna. In 2011 she moved to Barcelona, ​​where she began to develop the solo Lo Natural, and participates in the Grec Festival as choreographic assistant of Rita Vilenha in the program La Caldera Mov|i|mento. As a performer in Barcelona, she participates in pieces of Cecilia Vallejos, El Conde de Torrefiel and Pere Faura. Keep traveling regularly to Holland, where he collaborates with Camilla Milena Fehér in the piece No band, commissioned by the TENT gallery of Rotterdam, and joins the multidisciplinary project of Joachim Robbrecht and Bruno ListopadFigaro Desire Machine, produced by the Rotterdam Schouwburg.

In Spain, she participates in the Harvest short film directed by Nir Nadler, Chaja Hertog and Aitana Cordero Vico, makes the adaptation and new version of the piece Against Architecture v#2 by the choreographer Bruno Listopad and presents her work Lo Natural at festivals such as Escena Poblenou, Festival alt of Vigo, Respirations Festival in Paris and the cycle Ahí está en el MUSAC of León. Since 2013 is part of ARTAS de la Poderosa group and starts DJing in Barcelona. In April 2014 presents her latest choreography Hacia una estética de la buena voluntad curated by Irregular Sección Irregular del Mercat de las Flores and presented in the Grec Festival, La muestra In Situ (Arts Santa Monica) and the MACBA of Barcelona
