Reads like the Paper uses low-tech video techniques to put together a narrative built from a personal archive of images. Fixed in a single take, the camera acts as a mere accessory in a narration told through the succession of images displayed on a lap-top screen. Sometimes the artist’s hand comes into view to point at a photo or, using a pointer, to throw more light on a detail which might go unnoticed. It is a device for recovering what has been forgotten, triggered by a number of questions cross-examining the past and, at the same time, memory itself. Necessarily vague memories are turned into history through the contact of voice and image.
