Like the Spanish-language palindrome that accompanies the work, La ruta unfolds along a pre-ordained route, one set down for the artist by the celebrated Asturian climber Rosa Fernández. Here the path to be followed runs through a local woodland landscape Fernández knows intimately; played out in a key that eschews epic adventure in favour of everyday discovery. Confirming the maxim that any journey in someone else’s footsteps is always seen through a fresh pair of eyes, Lorenzo’s camera radiates a feeling of enchantment and wonder, and, in its hypnotic step-by-step momentum, makes the road he has inherited his own..
