Environment Dress 2.0, 2015

We are surrounded by contaminating agents, by factors that influence our day-to-day life, our mood and our behaviour. On a daily basis we are subjected to numerous variations of noise, temperature, atmospheric pressure, ultraviolet radiation, or quantity of carbon monoxide, among other factors. These agents have a decisive effect on our mood and collective behaviour towards other people.
Environment Dress is smart clothing that uses sensors to measure the aggressiveness of our surroundings, detecting these environmental variables and warning us about them, because our body’s natural sensors are not able to measure and warn us about an increase in UV radiation, dust levels, etc.
Starting out from the initial smart dress designed using open code, the artists created a second version conceived specifically to be used in a video-performance exploring these issues and how they affect our everyday life while, at once, questioning the limitations of human sensors.
