Asturian Artists’ Archive

Containing material of almost 200 artists, active since 1950 and in a constant process of growth, the aim of the Archive of Asturian Artists is to become an essential tool for drawing a cartography of the Asturian cultura.  The archive includes a physical part with material loaned by artists and institutions (catalogues, magazines, brochures, press cuttings, audiovisual material…) and a digital part available in the consultation devices of Mediateca_Archivo de LABoral. This second part presents the work of every artist in detail through a biographical review and a selection of works.

Beyond the mere accumulation of materials, the Archive of Asturian Artists is aimed at mobilising, by means of strategies of archiving, communication and exhibition, the materials it holds. LABoral launches on a regular basis calls addressed to the artists included in this archive. In addition, this resource is often used by researchers and curators that take part in the programme of the Art Centre. In summary, the aim is to build a true community, where all together design new forms of visibility for the artists that integrate it.
