Event Horizon #Camuflage

In some woods in Asturias, the artist walks in circles, attempting to follow the same path through the vegetation. Around the area she walks, three cameras follow her track. Above the site, GPS satellites turn in orbit around the earth. As she proceeds, she relays her position to the constellation of satellites flying over the forest. The satellites, in turn, transmit the coordinates to the cameras, which automatically focus on her, following her track despite the vegetation maze.
Th e bodies move synchronously, connected by an immaterial and wavering net of data flux. ey are governed by the rules of translation, conversion, decoding: the delirious transformation of one piece of information into another. Any change in one of the parts a ects the whole, thereby generating a new image.
#Camou flage is a walk, a system and an installation. It also is an invisible drawing in the landscape, traced by these diff erent bodies moving in a fragile and synchronous balance. Despite the apparent objectivity of the system, the images that emerge from it are unpredictable, erratic, labyrinthine, alternating between localization and loss, camou age and exposure. They are images of the expanded landscape we inhabit, and they expose it, as much as they enshroud it.
This project was developed during a residency at Plataforma 0, production center of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in the continuity of a research started with Event Horizon, held at Le Fresnoy.
