The vast majority of artefacts from the Cuencas are spontaneous constructions on the sidelines of the conventional architectural discourse. Their value does not lie in some specific formal or material characteristics, but in their ability to satisfy, effectively and without prejudices, the opposing demands on which they are predicated.
In recent years a large number of contemporary architectures, both from the Cuencas and from the rest of the region, have demonstrated they have the same capacity of adaptation to complex environments of various converging landscapes. The independency, self-absorption and objecthood of these architectures are relegated to the background and their precise boundaries are forsaken in lieu of a greater interaction with the surrounding context. The mutating, hybrid condition of these architectures gives rise to a positive reading of the violent clash of characters conditioning the morphology of the Cuencas. Through an invisible thread, these architectures are related with the ancient ones that once covered the territory, subtly laying the foundations for a dialogue on a peculiar genealogy.
