Natalia y Vicente Pastor. El trabajo y los días, 2010

Cuco Suárez, a local artist from Asturias known for his performances and installations, founded the Centro de Investigación Artística Ladines (Ladines Art Research Centre) which would subsequently change its name to Fundación de Arte Ladines (Ladines Art Foundation), in the small town of Ladines in Asturias. The building was opened in 2005 with an installation by the artist and performer Marcel.lí Antúnez Roca, one of the founders of La Fura dels Baus, the famous avant-garde theatre company from Catalonia. Since then, Fundación Arte Ladines has hosted many artists-in-residence as well as encounters, workshops and conferences.

This exhibition presents an overview on the works developed by Fundación Arte Ladines, including three projects by artists from Asturias. The first is a series of photographs by Fiumfoto (Cristina de Silva & Nacho de la Vega), an artist collective who work with photo stills, moving images and music. They are also exhibition curators and the organisers of LEV, the experimental music and sound festival. The second project consists of a large multimedia installation developed by Natalia Pastor and Vicente Pastor, exploring various aspects of rural life in different videos. The third project is a video-installation by Adolfo Manzano, Piru de la Puente & Roberto Serrano, addressing the complexity of human relationships with nature.

To accompany the exhibition, the documents archived in Fundación Arte Ladines will be on display at LABoral’s Mediateca_Archivo throughout the duration of the show.
