LABoral Centro de Arte and CMX (Conseyu de Mocedá de Xixón, the Youth Council of Gijón) have selected the artists to take part in the projec Cabina, a public art project involving interventions by the chosen artists in phone boxes around the city of Gijón. The idea commemorates the tenth anniversary of Sala Astragal, the exhibition venue run by CMX which has programmed shows of work by young artists from Asturias, many of whom are still developing their creative careers today. 

LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial and CMX have conjointly organised this exhibition which opens this coming Thursday November 6th. The project takes over the city, taking Sala Astragal as its headquarters and meeting place. Throughout the duration of one month the route between Sala Astragal and LABoral will be dotted with art interventions in 30 phone boxes. All the previous winners of the Astragal Awards have been invited to take part as well another 16 artists and creatives chosen by the two institutions.

Granell, Fernando Gutiérrez, Fiumfoto, Iván Rodríguez, Jaime Rodríguez, José Francisco Caso, Juan José Pulgar, Maite Centol, Melania Fraga, Natalia Pastor, Nel Amaro, Noé Baranda, Orson Sampedro, Pablo Armesto, Pablo Iglesias, Paco Nadie, Pelayo Varela, Román Torre, Sandra Gallo y Susana Villanueva. 


The opening will consist of a route following the various phone boxes featuring interventions by the artists. A bus will leave LABoral at 6:00 pm for Sala Astragal, where the official opening will take place at 7:30 pm.
