Read the exhibiton - Remote extinction detected

We begin Reading the exhibition, an activity that invites you to discover LABoral Centro de Arte's exhibitions from the point of view of the books that inspire them and will take place in bookshops.

22:00 to 23:00
Venue: La Revoltosa books and coffee

We will begin by reading two fragments of texts that evoke Remote extinction detected, which can be visited at LABoral until the 27th of August. One of them is Camille's stories: children of the compost, a chapter included in Donna J. Haraway's book Staying with the trouble, which offers us a tale of fabulous speculation about humans in symbiosis with endangered species.

The second is The Lichen, included in Ciencia Fricción, vida entre especies compañeras (Science Friction, life between companion species), a text by María Arnal, Irene Solá and María Sánchez that talks about whales, marshes and the origin of life, with which we will refer to the large cetaceans that were possible to see - and no longer so much - from the Asturian coast.

Whoever is interested can participate by reading a text they want to share, which can be a fragment of a book, an article, a poem, which is related to the idea of Extinction, understood as a broad concept. We want the meeting to be a polyphony of different voices with particular visions of the same subject but united by the main idea.

This first session will be led by the philologist Mar Martín, and will include the participation of the Uruguayan writer Ana Luisa Valdés and the writer and performer Laura Fjäder as well as the public who wish to attend.

Date: Thursday 23 June.

Time: 20:00 to 21:00.

Place: La Revoltosa libros y café.  C/Juan Alonso, 12, 33201 Gijón
