Towards an agropolitan citizenship
Towards an agropolitan citizenship is the title of a program of participatory and creative activities around the panera and the hórreo, the main physical and symbolic elements of the project.
Its objective is to strengthen the links between the rural and urban areas of the council of Gijón through a series of artistic, landscape and experiential actions in the surroundings of the villages of Trubia and Veranes. The project mixes pedagogy, artistic practice and traditional rural knowledge with ways of doing and collaborating, from contemporary creation.
The objective is to create community and transversal learning experiences that favor affective and intellectual ties between the local community and the territory. Among all participants, we propose a rereading of peasant knowledge, highlighting its transformative potential, for a more participatory, eco-responsible and inclusive city model. To do this, we involve the people who possess this knowledge, putting them in relation with urban dwellers through experimental artistic actions.
Towards an agropolitan citizenship is a project by Virginia López, born as a continuation and extension of the last edition of "Landscape Inhabitants 2019: Inland, towards the sky" project focused on the exploration and resementization of hórreos and paneras in the environment of Cenero, which the artist has developed in collaboration with the museum Villa Romana de Veranes.
Since 2014 Virginia López has been in charge of PACA_Proyectos Artísticos Casa Antonino, a space for artistic creation with international residency programs oriented to community and place.
Keeping its community spirit, the project is possible thanks to the collaboration of: Daniel Franco, Fernando Oyágüez, Lorena Lozano, Grigri Projects,
El Muséu del Pueblu d'Asturies, Asociación de Vecinos de Cenero "Los 16″, Cristina Cantero, Galiana, Juan Barbé (Paperlan) and Massimo Baldini (Tintúra).
The current proposal is part of a line of work of LABoral Centro de Arte entitled Reset Rural, which aims to contribute to the collective creation of new collaborative dynamics between cultivation and culture, between the countryside and the city, in line with the objectives of Agenda 2030.
