Talk-workshop Art and Artificial Intelligence: beyond the WOW effect!
Artists Mónica Rikić and Román Torre will introduce the creation of art with artificial intelligence by analyzing its implications beyond the interface.

In this talk-workshop we will stop to examine the factors involved in the creation process (cultural, technological sovereignty and environmental) of these tools and our ability to act in the face of certain AI processes, over the power of these algorithms to amaze us. At the end of the activity, we will obtain a series of images created collectively and in collaboration with the machine, which will summarize the analysis carried out.
Aimed at: general public interested in artificial intelligence analysis. No technical knowledge is required.

Mónica Rikić (Barcelona 1986) Electronic artist and creative programmer.
She focuses her practice on creative code and electronics, combining them with non-digital objects to create interactive projects often framed as experimental games and robotic installations. Her interest lies in the social impact of technology. From educational approaches to sociological experimentations, his projects propose new ways of interacting with the digital environment around us.
She has participated in international festivals such as Ars Electronica in Linz, Creative Tech Week in New York, Robotronica in Australia or FILE in Brazil, among others, and has exhibited in national institutions such as CaixaForum, CCCB, Arts Santa Monica, Cosmocaixa, Medialab-Prado or Etopia. She has been awarded the Premi Nacional de Cultura de Catalunya 2021, and also previously at the Japan Media Arts Festival, A MAZE Berlin, Margaret Guthman Musical Instrument Competition (Atlanta) and with a Leonardo grant for Researchers and Cultural Creators of the BBVA Foundation 2018. She has completed artistic residencies at TAG in Montreal, QUT in Australia, Platohedro in Medellin, Medialab-Prado in Madrid and Etopia in Zaragoza. Recently one of her pieces has been incorporated into the .BEEP {collection;} of electronic art.
Román Torre (Asturias, 1978), has worked conceptualizing, creating and collaborating in all kinds of visual and interactive productions of all sizes, from small devices to art installations or medium format scenographies, through large visual productions on stage, such as dance performances or operas.He has presented his work within the national territory as LABoral art center in Gijón (Lifefloor 2008-2012), Reina Sofía and Matadero in Madrid (Avatar* 2010) or Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona (RESET 2016). Also internationally he has shown his works and collaborations with other artists in different institutions, museums or theaters in countries such as Egypt, Cairo (Lifefloor 2008), Portugal, Colombia, Argentina,Chile, Slovenia, France and UK (Avatar* 2009 --2013), Japan in Tokyo (Oriestada/La Fura dels Baus 2012) , Germany, Munich (Babylon/La Furadels Baus - 2012).
