On the Government of the Commons
Códigos abiertos [Open Codes], isn´t an exhibition. Nevertheless, it could be an unfinished exhibition showing an ongoing process, which is being built at the same time as it is in progress.
Open Codes is a work group carrying out research into new ways of producing, sharing and spreading culture at a time when its value is questioned.
At the same time, Open Codes is a driving force aiming to bring together and promote different cultural projects, incorporating and publicly presenting groups and associations that are unconnected to Art Institution with the ultimate aim of forming a community linked to the idea that some goods and resources belong to everyone.
Through the work, knowledge and time from a group of people with diverse backgrounds and not sharing more affinities, in principle, than that of being part of this community, it has been possible to draw up a series of workshops, seminars, artistic interventions and round tables which seek to analyse this time of change from different perspectives. With the awareness that the current crisis is not temporary but systematic, initiatives that propose different ways of operating have emerged.
