‘Lo innombrable' is among the pojects selected in the 2018 II Call for Art Residencies
The human being has created culture through a process of 'homogenization' of the outside world, replacing inconceivable objects a priori by classified series of conceptions or ideas. Since this is so, we humans have debated between belonging to nature and the emancipation of nature. It is in the space between these two poles that we find our space, our 'refuge'. The contemporary consequences of an unresolved application of modern thought, evidenced first and foremost by current environmental problems - and other uncertainties regarding our near future - reveal, however, in a more pressing way than desirable, the threatening presence of the outside. Our present obliges us to look outside our comfort zone, and to ask ourselves questions about the outer extremes of our refuge: A nature and a technological development that have escaped the control of the modern human being.
‘Lo innombrable' seeks to bring into play, through artistic practice, the idea of heterology, enunciated by G. Bataille, as a reflection or analysis of what escapes the processes of homogenisation.
