Residences LABoral Impulsa
Projects selected for the first call
Impulsa and LABoral Art Centre and Industrial Creation set in motion since the 1st of February, the residences LABoral Impulsa. Five projects of the cultural and creative sector can be developed in an excellent environment, where they can enjoy the facilities and work infrastructures, company, orientation and support in search of partners and subsidies, as well as relevant connections in the local, national and international network of contacts.
This program wants to strengthen the activities and services of Impulsa for these collectives with the incorporation of facilities and activities of other agents of the Milla del Conocimiento like LABoral Centro de Arte.
The five current projects in the LABoral Impulsa residences are:
Adrián Cuervo – Visioniq Studio
His proposal has as its main focus the development of interactive productions and video mapping in the cultural context. He is currently working on the implementation of projections and interactive objects in art exhibitions, and in sets of performing arts by using new technologies and audiovisual projections.
His project is transdisciplinary as it coordinates the work of professionals from different sectors, from ICT to plastic arts, passing through dance, video editing or even cultural affairs.
Damián Vega – Vertical “a Project on post-digital graphic and visualization of industrial heritage”
This is a project of artistic creation and investigation of industrial heritage, using for its study and representation mine shafts and headframes of the coal mining industry taken place in Asturias. This project also works as a complete visual catalog on these kinds of structures.
This is an interdisciplinary project that integrates artistic activities and documentary record activities, technology and traditional processes, industrial architecture and visual experimentation.
Eve Blanco –Essential Bioclimatic Housing
This project develops a housing model with only 50m2, build with ecologic materials (green construction, sustainable building, or green building) by using typical tools of ecological design. The idea is to create a passive housing, with nearly no heating consumption. In this process aspects like the analysis of the materials life cycle or if the elements that make up the building can be recycled are taken into consideration. The projects intention is to create an easy to build and adaptable housing which can be adapted by the inhabitants to their liking and according to their personal circumstances.
Eduardo Acosta – Dheritage
Dheritage (Digital Heritage) is a project that hopes to maximize the value of heritage by making it accessible to everyone, using digital versions that can be accessed from all kinds of devices (mobile phones, tablets, computers, VR glasses). It provides the users, thanks to virtual reality, access to hyper realistic spaces and tridimensional experiences. The users can enjoy guided visits and historic tales, by simple using their devices.
This experience counts with a website where the users can access these services. The nature of this project is about the implementation of the cooperation of different disciplines that haven´t been applied in the cultural sector and education.
Pablo Alonso y Ana María Peral – Parametric & Sustainable ArchIoTectures
Environments and parametric architectures: sustainable and connected.
How is the implementation of the Internet, the development of new materials and construction systems or the use of new technologies going to affect the buildings and cities? How should we confront the design of these built environments or virtual environments?
The conventional design used by architects applies his science and art to define the shape of the building. The computer becomes now a support to create these designs much quicker and much cheaper. With the use of parametric design tools, the architect can program the rules the project should follow and the computer generates the shapes and constructive details or the virtual spaces of the buildings.
Archiotecture is a project proposed by Pablo Alonso and Ana María Peral were they reflect on all these aspects, backed up by 20 years of experience in all sorts of fields.
The project consists of two parts: during the first part an algorithm based on parametric design software is developed, which will help architects to create in a matter of minutes new forms which would be impossible to create by using traditional methods. In the second part the algorithm is applied to the design of multiple architectural elements that will be shown physically (real size or scale) and with advanced technology like virtual reality or augmented reality.
