Residency: Andrée-Anne Roussel
Andrée-Anne Roussel will develop 'The Warm-Up' during her production residency in the SoundLAB in the frame of the agreement signed between LABoral and Avatar
During her residency at LABoral, Andrée-Anne Roussel will develop The Warm-Up, an immersive sound installation focused on the chaotic sound emitted by an orchestra when the musicians warm up before they tune their instruments
The work by this Canadian artist will be on show at the SoundLAB of the Centro de Arte y Creación industrial.
Her stage is part of the collaboration agreement signed between LABoral and Avatar, a centre specialized in audio and electronic art from Québec (Canada) for developing an artist exchange programme for international artists. Likewise, LABoral has launched an open call for artists who want to complete a residency at the Canadian production centre, as a part of the ENCAC First Open Call to Audiovisual Artists and Developers.
Roussel will explore the chaotic sound emitted by an orchestra when the musicians warm up before they tune their instruments, as a first step to create her immersive installation focused on this sound, which seems to have no name, but appears to her to be one of the most fascinating and intoxicating sounds possible.
The Gijón Conservatory of Music and Dance will work with Andrée-Anne Roussel on this project. A fairly high number of music students will participate in the recording that aims to properly capture the mesmerizing surround soundscape of this musical warm-up.
