Residence: Esther Mañas and Arash Moori
The artist collective has won the 4th edition of DKV-Álvarez Margaride Grant with their project (Cu).
During their residency at LABoral, Esther Mañas and Arash Moori will develop their proposal (Cu), winning project of the Production Grant DKV Insurances – Álvarez Margaride, called conjointly by the insurance entity and LABoral Centro de Arte.
The artists will stay at LABoral for two months at Platform 0. Production Centre of LABoral, prior to their presentation to the public from the following 17th of June onwards. (Cu) proposes the use of copper as a guiding thread through the pursuit and tracking of its traces in the Asturian history and territory; in addition to its use as an artistic material for electronic, electric and sculptural purposes. During those two months of residency, the artists will delve in the recycling and electric conductivity capacities of this material, together with the symbolic bounds which unite it with the regions of Asturias devoted to its extraction and production in different historical moments.
The artists thus, plan to create a series of works based on the fusion of sculptural techniques, electronic technology and the utilisation of electromagnetic phenomena. The production and investigation processes will be part of their final presentation of the project.
