UV rays cannot be perceived by the human eye, however, exposure to these type of radiation can be harmful to our health. Particularly in summer our skin is more exposed to this radiation and our body does not have natural sensors to warn us in case of excessive radiation. Usually, when we become aware of it, it is already too late and our skin is already damaged by the sun.

The aim of this public presentation of the winning project of Next Things 2015 Environment Dress is to give visibility to UV radiation by means of a smart dress or wearable that measures the level of UV radiation we are exposed to. Several graphic alerts will warn us of the danger of a prolonged exposure to the sun, also in relation with physical activity that we are carrying out (swimming, sun bathing, taking a walk, etc…)

Depending on our activity, this dress will tell us the measures we should take in order to be protected from the sun, such as putting on a t-shirt, sun lotion or even placing ourselves in the shadow.

The artists María Castellanos and Alberto Valverde invite us to try these smart hats to see how UV radiation affects us.
